After being abandoned for years, the former gas station at the corner of 16th Street and Dr. Andrew J. Brown Avenue is finally being demolished! King Park acquired the property from the County Commissioners earlier this year and will have the dilapidated building torn down just in time for Christmas. King Park is especially pleased since it sits across the street from the Oaks Academy Middle School and students have to walk past this unsafe property every day. With the help of the City of Indianapolis, the underground storage tanks will also be removed and environmental testing will be performed. Only a few blocks from the Monon Trail on revitalized 16th Street, this is a prime site for redevelopment!
